With rice prices that keep rising this year, Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama intends to open the Rice Market in order to suppress the price.
Ahok stated the rice-purchasing mechanism from the market will be changed. People no longer buy with cash, but using the automated teller machine card (ATM).
Beef Price Remains Stable"We just want to record anyone who buys, therefore every buyer candidate will be given rations. We had discussed it at the executive meeting," stressed Ahok, at City Hall, Monday (2/23).
He disclosed non-cash is prohibited to spread the market benefits to the public. "If the market is provided to agents only, they will sell the rice to traders. Perhaps, 10 percent is for buyer, but 90 percent saved for instance. I don't want this happens," he expressed.
He added, almost Jakartans have a bank account thus the purchase via ATM can be easier.
"Just install the Electronic Data Capture (EDC). I want it could already be done this week and report to me," he added.
